Split Self

The study of split-brain syndrome shows that each hemisphere forms its own, sometimes contradictory decisions, living within its own separate reality.
The dominance of the hemispheres in a healthy brain can shift chaotically depending on the type of task and context. In addition, the brain possesses neuroplasticity - it changes its structure and redistributes activity between regions in response to learning and experience.
One of the central ideas of Zen Buddhism and yoga is that suffering arises from an inner misalignment between the perception of the “Self” and consciousness as the only true reality, and that the practices they offer are a form of training for the brain and body aimed at achieving harmony and dissolving the boundaries between “self” and “world”.
Harmony is not spontaneity; it is the natural result of a properly trained brain in the cognitive, physical, and emotional domains.
